Welcome!
Welcome to MATHCOUNTS Outreach; a Yale Undergraduate Organization! We work to provide after-school math enrichment programs for New Haven Middle and Elementary School students and to help younger students stay engaged with math. Yale undergraduate students teach math curriculum and/or MATHCOUNTS competition-style topics weekly in several New Haven middle schools, as well as some New Haven elementary schools.
Our Mission
• Increasing achievement
• Discovering hidden talent
• Building a lasting interest in mathematics
What We Do
MathCounts Outreach coaches middle school students in math in the New Haven area and organizes four large-scale events throughout the year. The November School Competition gives New Haven students a taste of MathCounts events. Girls’ Math Day is held in December to celebrate the accomplishments of women in math, and to encourage our female students to continue their studies. There are also two New Haven-wide math competitions during the spring semester, the annual MathCounts Chapter February Competition and April Competition which bring students from all over New Haven to compete and learn in a friendly, rewarding, and intellectually stimulating environment.
Joining Us?
Yale students, we are now coaching in-person and are looking for new COACHES to join us! If you’re interesting in coaching or learning more, you can visit our booth during the extracurricular bazaar, join our mailing list, or email us at mathcountsyale@gmail.com! We accept students of ALL majors and do our best to match EVERYONE with a school that fits their schedule. You’ll be assigned 1-3 co-coaches, and it’s a great way to get involved in the New Haven community!
New Haven math teachers, please join this mailing list to be part of our coaching program and sign up for our events. Please email us at mathcountsyale@gmail.com if you have any questions!
